Being a Grandmother
In our blending family, we have three children and six young grandchildren – three boys and three girls. Like most grandparents, we think they are all exceedingly smart, gorgeous to look at, endlessly entertaining, and very lovable. We spoil them when we choose to and occasionally criticize how their parents are raising them (but only to each other). We both love being grandparents and spending time with these six charming little people.
Like many of our friends, we find that complicated personal relationships among family members in multiple generations can sometimes cause challenging situations. For the past few years, I have been writing articles for the website Grandparents.com about how my circle of friends is dealing with divorce, stepchildren and step-parents, money, and day-to-day issues like hugs or what is appropriate for a ten-year old to wear – circumstances that impact most of us. Some of the stories relate to personal experiences and others are about friends and family.
