I am currently a Fellow at the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities in Charlottesville, Va. This is my 3rd Fellowship; another great opportunity to write, away from the distraction of normal life. This time, I am working on an Internet-accessible resource that will be hosted by Morehead State University.
The Southern Industrial Educational Association, Inc. (1909-1926), headquartered in Washington, DC, is believed to be the first national organization to address cultural tourism, economic development, education and health issues in southern Appalachia. By 1910, the Association was marketing traditional crafts at their headquarters and in hotels and resorts in New England, a leader in the Appalachian craft revival movement.
Stay tuned, I will try to post more every few days about this and other exciting projects I am working on.
